Mark Bennett - Graphic Artist

Skeeter

We, Grace S. and Chelsea D., chose to interview Mark Bennett. Mark Bennett grew up in Garden Grove, Orange County. He has loved doing artwork ever since he was little. Now he lives in Santa Barbara and artwork is his profession. His parents are Harriet and Arthur Bennett. He has one brother and one sister. He is the youngest out of all his siblings. His brother is the father of Dayna Bennett-Davis, a teacher at Main Elementary School.

Mark has great grandparents from Germany. His parents live in Santa Maria. Most of his family has worked in agriculture and ranching. His father worked at for an oil company and his mother was a nurse.

His teachers encouraged him to do artwork. Without them he would not be the artist he is today. Right now he is an illustrator and graphic designer. He is presently working on a children's book. His first real "job" was working at CBS. He started out in the lowest position and learned everything he could until he was in charge of the graphics department.

He believes someone who is a civic leader helps in the community. He has volunteered in things throughout the community, such as the Aids walk, Aids ride, and the breast cancer three-day walk.

Mr. Bennett has been doing graphic design and artwork for the community since he was in college. Some of his jobs included painting pictures at Disneyland and painting billboards. He also enjoys painting ceramics.

Although he loves his profession of artwork he has other hobbies, which are square dancing and swimming.

We enjoyed interviewing Mark Bennett and we are glad he is part of our community.
