Interview with Charlie Thompson

By Charles T.

I am Charles T. IV and I interviewed my father Charlie Thompson. He is an avocado rancher in Carpinteria, California. Avocados are an important crop in Carpinteria because it gives many people jobs, it brings money to Carpinteria, and it keeps Carpinteria green. Once a year we even have an avocado festival.

Charlie Thompson was born in Los Angeles named after his dad who is called Chuck. When he was a little boy he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. After a few years he moved to Carpinteria where he has lived ever since.

He is half Lebanese on his mom's side of the family. His great grandparents immigrated to the United States from Lebanon. They settled in Nebraska. His grandparents moved their family to Los Angeles.

The best thing he remembers about his childhood is playing sports. He liked baseball, football, bike riding, and going to the beach. He also liked playing on the ranch where he still lives today.

He is married and has two daughters and one son. He takes care of our ranch and other avocado ranches in Carpinteria. He likes to play tennis, and go fishing and boating. He is on the board of Carpinteria Valley Little League.
