Interview with Hans Kristian Wold

1. My name is Hans Kristian Wold.

2. I was named after my Great Uncle, Hans Kristian Vold.

3. I was born and raised in Tacoma, Washington.

4. My sisters are Elizabeth, Pauline and Everina.

5. My mothers' and fathers' names are Mary and Elof Wold.

6. My father built the house and we lived in the basement until the rest of the house was finished.

7. Titlow Park was a half a block from my house. It was next to Puget Sound and it had a pool, a big field, a forest and a picnic area. It was a great place to play. I went to the University of Puget Sound. We were called the Loggers. My mother is living in Des Moines, Washington, which is just west of Seattle. My father died in 1961 when I was 9.

8. My youngest sister died in 1992. My oldest sister lives in Los Angeles and my middle sister lives in Renton, Washington with her family.

9. My paternal grandmother came to America before my grandfather who came later with all their belongings from Sulitjelem, Norway. My father was a carpenter. He graduated high school in Tacoma and served in the US Army in Alaska during W.W. II. He was a member of the ski patrol in the Aleutian Islands.

10. My mother was born in Joplin Missouri and graduated from Southwest Missouri State with a teaching degree. She joined the Army and was a clerk during the war. She later worked as a court recorder after my dad died.

11. Well, my dad's side of the family came here during the 1930's.

12. When I was a teenager I sold flowers from a flower stand and I was a lifeguard during the summer.

13. I work in Carpinteria for a company named CII Technologies/Kilovac. I'm a Chemical Laboratory Technician A.

14. I am married to a wonderful woman, and this Valentines Day will be our 19th wedding anniversary.

15. I have two daughters. Jennifer, who is 9 and Kristen, who is 12.
