A: Maria Irma Gonzalez

Q: Where were you born?

A: Tecaliclan, Jalisco, Mexico

Q: When did you arrive here?

A: 1960

Q: What are your parent's names?

A: Ramon and Emilia Rivera.

Q: What do you remember about the house you lived in?

A: It was a big house and I was very happy there.

Q: What do you remember most about you childhood?

A: How happy I was in the small town I lived in.

Q: Tell me about your family?

A: I have two brothers and two sisters and my dad and mom.

Q: What ie your family background, personal history (grandparents, great grandparents, relatives) and your family's role in the community?

A: I come from a Spanish background. My great grandparents were the people that started the first Mariachi. Their name was Mariachi Vargas de Tecaliclan.

Q: How long have these significant relatives lived here?

A: All their lives.

Q: Are there some other people that have contributed to your success as a community leader?

A: My mom.

Q: Could you describe your profession to me? What do you do at your job?

A: I am an assembler. I build lamps and lamp poles. I helped build the lamps at Canalino school in Carpinteria.
