By Matthew L.

Ray's full name is Raymond Ames Jr. named after his father.

His family originated in Mexico and his grandfather came to the U.S. around 1910. He made his living by farming, settling in Carpinteria. While his father was in the Air Force, Ray's family moved to follow his father's career. Ray spent some of his childhood in Montana. After returning to Carpinteria. Ray graduated from Carpinteria High School. His family is now spread from San Diego to Sacramento.

He was inspired to become an architect while he was in Jr. High School. He liked to draw, and sketch mechanical things. Putting these two things together, Ray is now an architect with a firm in Santa Barbara, "Design Associates."

In his spare time Ray likes to spend time with his family and friends. He also enjoys going to movies, riding bikes, exercising, and running on the beach.
