What is your full name?

Mary Loyola Irene Ahern Crowley

Were you named after anyone?

Yes, my mother, Loyola

Where were you born?

Augusta, Georgia

What are your parent's names?

Loyola and Bill

Where did you grow up?

Pennsylvania and New Jersey

What do you remember about the house you lived in?

White, two story, a cellar and lots of trees.

What do you remember most about your childhood?

Holidays and a big family of 7 little brothers and sisters, 4 stepbrothers and stepsisters..

What is your background?

English, German, Irish and Dutch

Tell me about your family?

It was a big, loving family spread out all over the USA.

What is your family background, personal history and their roles in the community?

Some of my ancestors arrived here before the revolutionary war. They settled in Pennsylvania, and came from Holland and England.

How long have these significant relatives lived here?

Over 200 years ago, and I came to Carpinteria 21 years ago.

What previous professions have they had?

My dad was a lawyer and my mom was a nurse.

Are there some other people that have contributed to your success as a community leader? My boss, my family and my friends, by working in/with groups that do good things.

Could you describe your profession to me? What do you do at your job?

Help business people in Carpinteria and also tourists coming to visit, or who want to move here.

Describe the activities in which you are currently involved?

At work I help write the newsletter, Leadership in Carpinteria, and Mixers. After work I go to meetings of nonprofit organizations like the Historical Society and Woman's Club and school parent support groups.

What path did you take to become a leader?

I appreciate Carpinteria and want to give back and help make things better. I chose to live here and I want to help however I can.
