Joseph Drake.

1. What is your full name? Joseph Raymond Diaz Drake.

2. Were you named after anyone? Uncle Ray.

3. Where were you born? Cottage Hospital, Santa Barbara.

4. Do you like your job? Yes!

5. What are your parent's names? Sherman Drake and Vangie Diaz.

6. What do you remember about the house that you lived in? Clean and very nice.

7. What do you remember most about your childhood? I loved to ride horses, camping, and to lift weights.

8. What is your background? I was in the Marines, I got married, and I love working. My Mother's family is from Mexico and of Indian blood, my Father's family is from Germany and they attended Penn State.

9. Did you mostly like your childhood? Yes!

10. How long have these significant relatives lived here? My uncle is 101 and my Grandmother is 89.

11. What previous professions have they had? Tree industry.

12. Are there some other people that have contributed to your success as a community leader? My mother.

13. What was your dream when you were little? I dreamed of being a pro baseball player. I also used to watch my father as he worked in the trees.

14. What is the address of your business? 401 East Ortega Street.

15. Describe the activities in which you are involved in your job. I climb trees, cut them down, drive big trucks, use the chipper machine, use the grinder machine, and plant trees.

16. What path did you take to become a leader? I read the Bible and I walk the path of God.

17. What does the term "Civic Leadership" mean to you? I help my friends, family and farm workers.

18. Could you list and describe the changes and contributions that you have made to the community? I am a member of the Native Sons of the West, and a Marshall.

19. Describe any changes that have taken place since you have became a leader. The existence of the Santa Barbara Marshall.

20. How long have you been involved in the community? 27 years.

21. What is your favorite color? Red.

22. Tell me something unusual that has happened to you please. A new job.

23. What was your favorite subject in school? History.

24. Have you ever dissected anything? A deer, bird and a rabbit.

25. Did you ever have a crush on somebody? My wife.
