Dr. Conti

Dr. John Conti - Local Dentist

My name is Vivian S. I chose to interview Mr. John E. Conti because he helps make sure people have good dental care and he teaches children how to keep their teeth healthy.

John was born Muskogee, Oklahoma. He grew up in Venice, Ca. He remembers a big loquat and avocado trees around his house.

John’s parents are Edward and Virginia Conti, his dad was the first child born in America. His grandfather won an Oscar. His daughter graduated in Main School last year.

John was a welder, was in the U.S. Army, a policeman and fireman. Dr. Gray a dentist in Carpinteria contributed to my success in becoming a dentist.

John is the director for the Carpinteria-Summeland Fire Protection District. Captain at Truth Aquatics that takes scuba diving trips and hiking trips to the Channel Islands. He has a chance to see every whale that comes by on these trips. He works with the National Park Service is a diver for the kelp forest-monitoring project.

He also serves on the School Dental Screening for Carpinteria.

For the fire department John helped develop a paramedic program. In the nation park Service he provides data necessary to make management decisions on marine resources.

"Civic Leadership" means my opportunity to participate with other members of the community. He's been doing just that since 1977. John started being a leader in school and learning how to be a leader in his various jobs experiences.
