John Walker Marsh DDS

Dr. Marsh

Three dentists came to our school to do a free dental screening for our students. I chose to interview John Walker Marsh.

John Walker Marsh was born in Santa Barbara, Ca. His middle name goes back to the Civil War. He grew up in Carpinteria; he remembers the big redwood trees in his front yard and playing at the beach with his friends. Once, while camping, a bear chased him.

John's Dad was a meat cutter and worked at Jordanos in Carpinteria. His grandfather was a carpenter and his sister is his assistant they lived in Carpinteria since 1953.

Two teachers in Carpinteria helped contribute to John's success as a community leader. Mr. Willson and Mr. McKown.

John started volunteering as a student and continued when he became a dentist. He feels "Civic Leadership" means your involvement in the community. He has been involved doing that for seven years.

John is a member of the Carpinteria Lions Club and the Carpinteria Education Foundation. He is involved with the Student Speaker Contest which gives out scholarships, the Lions Club Community Building, helping to prevent blindness and raising money for the American Heart Association.

John is a dentist and he helps people keep their teeth healthy.
