Robert J. Berkenmeir DDS

My name is Adilene A.   I chose to interview Robert Berkenmeir because he helps keep our teeth clean.

Dr. Berkenmeir

Mr. Berkenmeir came to our school to check our teeth. All the students at Main school get to have their teeth checked for free! I think that's a good thing.

Mr. Berkenmeir was born in Berkeley California. His Dad's name is Joe and his Mom's name is Lorry. His background is German and Italian.  He has two sisters and one brother. His dad fixed TV's and his mom stayed home.

He grew up in San Leandro, California. He shared a bedroom with his brother. He remembers he played baseball a lot.

Robert contributes his success as a community leader to his wife, Janice Sugiyama.

For 23 years Robert has been involved in community affairs starting at the USC Dental School as President of the Student Body. He thinks "Civic Leadership" means making Carpinteria the best that it can be.

He does this through the Carpinteria Rotary Club, Dental Clinics at no cost, the Chamber of Commerce, the Salvation Army, Girls Inc. and the Avocado Festival every October. He developed a vision of Carpinteria in year 2020 at City Hall.

Robert says the most unusual thing that happened to him is his family, his wife and daughter Erin. Erin gets straight A's in her school. She's in the 8th grade.
