What is your full name?

Ryan Hisashi Nakasone

Were you named after anyone?

Grandpa - Hisashi Nakasone

Where were you born?

Eatontown, New Jersey

What are your parent's names?

Rick and Masumi Nakasone, Duke and Elaine Grondin.

What countries/states/cities did you grow up in?

Germany - Dad was in the army, but I mostly grew up in Westminster, Orange County, California

What do you remember most about your childhood?

Playing sports and video games (Atari)

Tell me about your family?

I have 2 sisters, Stacey - 30 years old and Robyn - 16 years old. I am married with a 4-1/2 month daughter - Sophia.

What is your family background, personal history and their roles in the community?

My dad is an optometrist and my mom is a teacher. My grandparents are retired. My family is 1/2 Japanese and 1/2 Chinese.

How long have these significant relatives lived here?

Japanese - 3rd generation from Hawaii, Chinese - 2nd generation.

Are there some other people that have contributed success as a community leader?

Lots of love and support from my wife and family. Mentorship from Dr. De Sandre.

Could you describe your profession to me?

I am a back doctor. Better known as a chiropractor: musculoskeletal system.

Describe the activities in which you are currently involved?

Rotary Club in Carpinteria - Board of Directors, Chamber of Commerce - Board of Directors, Interact Club Advisor at Carpinteria High School.

What path did you take to become a leader?

Lots of school. Good grades and worked hard. I went to college at UCLA and a chiropractic college.

What does the term "Civic Leadership" mean to you?

Setting a good example, good citizenship and helping others in the community.

Could you list and describe the changes or contributions you have to made to the community?

The Bluffs, Girl's Inc., Rotary Club, Interact Club, Chamber of Commerce.

Describe any changes that have taken place since you became a leader?

The Interact Club has doubled its' membership and we helped throw a dinner party at a senior citizens home. Strengthened and supported the Chamber of Commerce.

How long have you been involved with the community?

3 years in Carpinteria.

Tell me something unusual that has happened to you?

Having our baby daughter Sophia, 10/6/99
