Q. What is your full name?

Annette Elinor Davis

Q. Were you named after anyone?

My aunt's name is Elinor.

Q. Where were you born?

San Mateo, California

Q. What are your parents' names?

Alva Houston, Richard Davis

Q. Where did you grow up?

I grew up in New York, Massachusetts, and California

Q. What do you remember about a house you grew up in?

The house in Massachusetts had 14 rooms and a swimming pond.

Q. What do you remember most about your childhood?

riding horses and singing with my mom at the piano

Q. What is your background?

Swedish, Scottish, Irish, and Welsh

Q. Tell me about your family.

I have two older brothers named Rick and Jim.

Q. Are there some people who have contributed to your success as a community leader?

There have been teachers that have inspired me over the years. My mother and grandmother were both teachers.

Q. What is your profession?

I am a fourth grade teacher at Main School, 5241 Eighth St., Carpinteria, CA, 93013

Q. Describe an activity with which you are currently involved.

I am doing a music video with high school seniors.

Q. What path did you take to become a leader?

After several other careers in the restaurant and entertainment business I returned to UCSB and got my teaching credential.

Q. What does the term "Civic Leadership" mean to you?

It means trying to set an example for others in the community, especially my students. It also means participating in community affairs as much as possible

Q, Describe the contributions you have made to the community.

In my eight years here at Main School I have helped many students, especially those from Spanish speaking backgrounds, to learn English and integrate into the local culture. I also wrote the school song and that contributes musical school spirit.

Q. Describe the changes that have taken place since you became a leader.

Over the years I have seen Main School grow and evolve into one of the best schools around. I credit this to the leadership of Dr. Campos, our principal, and the efforts of all the staff.
